Comparison of two manifestos separated by four decades shows, that designers still struggle with similar problem of making their work more meaningful and beneficial for the society, not only companies by which they were employed. Thought the issues they would like to aim at have slightly changed, from visual information, focused on local society problems in 1964 to more general, sociological and worldwide topics in 2000, Jonathn Barnbrooke's proclamation proves that the need of creating design for social purposes is still up to date.
What is important for understanding those two manifestos is the fact they were written in England and United States. For many underdeveloped countries, including Poland, all the problems mentioned are still current and even more urgent than for the countries, signifiers of manifesto's are from. Due to that designers work is even more difficult, because it's major part is creating design awareness in societies from the basics.
